A Christian killed a Christian in Minneapolis
I felt sick to my stomach when I learned that a young woman who was a United States citizen, was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis. The shooting victim was a young mother who was a natural born citizen and looked nothing like the Hispanic immigrants that ICE is charged with tracking down. Days later, the issue has gotten political with members of one political party feeling that the shooting was justified and another political party feeling that it was murder.
I learned that the victim’s name is Renee Good and the shooters name is Jonathan Ross. Like Good, Ross is also a white natural born citizen. The two, I read, are also committed Christians. According to Ed Ross, the father of Jonathan Ross, Jonathan is a “committed, conservative, Christian.” For me, this makes the tragedy worse. A Christian citizen killing another citizen offends me.
I have heard a lot of political spin around this death.
One political party says:
Renee was a domestic terrorist.
Renee attempted to run agent Jonathan Ross down with her car.
The victim should not have driven into this area.
A few months prior, agent Ross was dragged by a car during a pullover and had a long and painful recovery. Some speculate that this incident set the agent’s mindset to have such a quick response.
People with other political leanings say:
Jonathan Ross used excessive force.
This agent clearly shot from in front of the car and proper protocol says that law enforcement officers are taught never to stand in front of automobiles.
Unlike other story versions, Renee was not driving toward officer Ross, she was simply leaving the scene.
If Jonathan Ross was indeed traumatized by his previous experience, he needed to be reassigned to other work until he healed from this frightening incident.
Having armed and masked officers reminds people of the KKK who were also masked and well-armed.
I wonder if such an incident was not inevitable. When the United States Government sends thousands of masked, heavily armed, para-military officers into a community who act without the guidance of leadership of local police, who know a town and the citizens of the town, a tragedy like with will eventually happen. I believe it is time to pull ICE agents out of cities and towns until new protocols that protect our citizens are developed, and local police are given supervision over outside para-military groups. Let all of us begin to petition the federal government to make this happen.
