It is ironic that today, just one day after Mother’s Day, I am signing papers to sell the house that I bought from my mother. The memories there are bittersweet.

We celebrated ordinations and installations of elders and deacons at the Community Church of Glen Rock yesterday. I can’t help but be awed by the sacredness of these ceremonies.

Are we succeeding or failing in life? Do we blame external factors, or do we do a careful self-evaluation? Success starts with our own self-reflection.

Is everyone welcome in Christian congregations? Do we exclude anyone? It is time that we welcome anyone who is spiritually hungry.

With home communions and offering Ashes to the public, we people of faith, need to get out of our sanctuaries and bring the love of God to people in the market place.

Our congregation fed hungry people in Hackensack. Serving such folks gives us a great perspective on how good our lives really are.

A lawyer is now running our Department of Health and Human Services. How good an idea is this?

My fourth grandson was born this week. How can I help him survive, and thrive, in the crazy world that he was born into?

I watched the Superbowl even though I didn’t have any affection for either team. It was still good to watch the game. Sometimes we stay away from worship because we don’t like some of the participants. Isn’t it good for us to worship anyway?

Whether we are happy or unhappy with the last presidential election, it was wonderful to see a peaceful transfer of power. I am truly pleased with that.

How many of us inquire about our future with God? Instead, how many people go to a psychic or consult horoscopes instead? Is this really a smart move?

Dr. King’s dream of racial equality is my dream also. I have a vested interest. I want my bi-racial grandson to have the same rights and justice that I enjoy.

Suicide negatively effects people around us. I urge anyone who is considering this to get help and not to hurt those around you by hurting yourself.

I’m sad that I will be taking down my Christmas decorations soon. And yet, would leaving them up all year really add to their joy, or would it make them lose their luster by making them ordinary.
